I want to share my sincere appreciation for everyone at St. Francis Hospital who cared for my elderly father, Jesse during a recent emergency visit on Tuesday, 9/22. When we first arrived in the emergency department, I was honestly frustrated and concerned because there were quite a few very sick people waiting, including several patients dealing with what appeared to be a stomach virus. However, the moment the staff saw how low my father’s blood pressure was, they acted quickly and brought him in for immediate attention. From that point forward, I was extremely impressed with the care he received. Every member of the emergency department staff was kind, compassionate, professional, and responsive. They took the time to care for my father while also keeping me informed about what was happening. It did take more than 24 hours to get him transferred to a room upstairs. However, the staff was upfront with us from the beginning that the hospital was very busy and that there were many sick patients, so they could not say exactly when a room would become available. Even while waiting, my father continued to have a bed in the emergency department and received care. Once he was moved upstairs, I was even more impressed. The nurses, charge nurses, and everyone on that floor were absolutely amazing. Their kindness, patience, professionalism, and genuine concern for my father meant so much to our family. I was also impressed whenever I called the hospital. The people who answered the phone were consistently kind and helpful. If they didn't know the answer to a question, they didn't just give me a quick response—they took the time to find out and followed up with me in a timely manner. That level of communication made a stressful situation much easier for me. I was very hesitant about taking my father to St. Francis Hospital, but I am truly grateful that we did. What could have been an incredibly stressful and frightening experience turned into a positive one because of the wonderful people who cared for him. Thank you to every nurse, doctor, charge nurse, staff member, and phone representative who helped care for my father and supported our family. Your kindness and dedication did not go unnoticed. You made a difficult time much easier, and I am truly grateful for all that you did.
