Dr. Abbass graduated with his Bachelor of Science in Biology in 1998 from the University of Beirut, Lebanon. He pursued his education in Lebanon and graduated with his Medical Doctorate in 2010. He then traveled to the United States and completed an additional residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan during 2010-2015. He remained Senior Staff Surgeon at Henry Ford Health Systems from 2015-2018.
He is board certified by the American Board of Surgeons, the American Society of Transplant Surgeons for Liver and Kidney Transplantation, and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He maintains his certifications in Advance Trauma Life Support, Advanced Trauma Operative Management, and Advanced Cardiac Life Support. He is currently expanding his practice in Southern California with complex liver/gallbladder/pancreatic surgeries. Dr. Abbass has been appointed as the Director of the Hepatobiliary Program at Mission Hospital.
Dr. Abbass' current areas of expertise include many general surgery cases, such as hernias, gallbladders, diseases of the bowel, laparoscopic and robotic procedures, major abdominal procedures, complex liver, pancreas, and gallbladder cancers, and surgical/trauma critical care. He is well received by his patients and peers with his energetic and responsive attitude towards surgical intervention.
